Thank you for joining and watching!

The highlight of the stream was our salad discussion. Salsa is a salad, and what on earth was the deal with the jello salads???

We aim to have a good mix of dragons that look “classically” draconic, but also some that push the boundaries a bit! If you like the more draconic dragons, there will definitely be more in the future. Ditto for if you like dragons that have other creature species and anatomies heavily integrated!

Thank you for the report. We appreciate it, as it’s sometimes difficult to keep track of all the little places this has been referenced! This should now be updated, though it may take up to an hour for the site’s internal tooltip cache to reflect the changes.

these seem to have been missed as well

These skins should now be updated! Thank you for catching that!

As for the other reports, I think that another team member has addressed them. Thank you everyone!

Hello @Fledhyris!

We are aware that the charity familiar and how it's acquired is a change from our standard method of acquiring items via treasure, gems, or gameplay.

We understand premium currency content isn't as welcome as free-to-play content, and we expect a bit of pushback with every gem content update. When it comes to fundraising, however, things need to be a little different. In the case of gems, they pass through the gem marketplace, can be acquired through gameplay, traded for treasure, items, skins, etc. While they may have a specific purchase amount in the marketplace, their end value is not as clear-cut as USD. Running the charity fundraiser as a direct buy is the most logistically feasible way for us to address this.

AAJC was chosen for our fundraiser after consultation, and with careful consideration and intention. As we noted in today's update, while bringing on a sensitivity specialist doesn't absolve one of all wrongdoings, the fundraiser, its recipient, and the limited nature of the familiar (as we do not wish to profit off of cycling it into the gem marketplace later) were all choices made with specialist oversight. This guidance helped us discuss the best ways we could, in our own small way, provide tangible, real-world support for the cultures that inspired the teams' work.

This is not a trial balloon for direct micro transactions or the start of "pay-to-win". The spread of false information buries valid feedback and delays our team's ability to review valuable constructive criticism, as we instead have to address inflammatory claims and rumors — in the forums, and in tickets.

We will have more information on the fundraiser and how the girin familiar will work once launched for everyone soon, so please hold tight for more details. In the meantime, if you have constructive feedback to share on Wednesday's Ancient update, and as we mentioned in the update itself, please feel free to submit that directly to us through Contact Us. Thank you!

I mean, also queries about tickets is up there with not great for chat when live-streaming. Penalties, tickets, they both require private information and verification that the requester is the registered account holder in order to address them. That is wildly inappropriate for a public livestream, and against our Privacy Policy.

This sounds fun! I do have one question though, I'm really sorry if it sounds silly, I was just wondering what rule 4 means by account actions? Does it mean talking about stuff we do on flight rising in general or specific things like people talking about things they don't like about the website? Again, sorry if it seems silly, I was just a bit confused and didn't want to break any rules.

Hi @Bugdude88!

It means the stream and chat is not the place to appeal Support actions or penalties on an account. If Support issues a penalty, from a forum warning to an account closure, the only avenue for appeal is through Contact Us.

I like the design, and I am exited, but I agree that the groveling is beyond weird.

Like, I'm white myself so I don't know if this is reasonable, but the attitude reeks of self-hatred more than anything!
Why not take down the website if that's how you feel? /hj

Taking accountability for harmful actions or decisions, regardless of intent or ignorance, and laying out how you intend to move forward to both make amends and do better is an apology, not groveling.

Groveling is self-debasement and self-hatred to please others. Groveling makes it about yourself and not the action, the issue, and the people hurt. This line of thought on this particular issue also downplays and dismisses the concerns shared with us about orientalism and the Far East Trope, and that's not okay.

The topic of this thread is the design of the Cirrus, and we are moving forward.

Yeah me too, I hope that they take a break from focusing on breeds for a moment to fix known bugs (some have been around for a while) and work on other very important things like the coliseum update and rebalancing fairgrounds. And it would definitely be interesting to see a neutral ancient breed. Probably just like, the physical manifestations of the leftover magic from the dieties?

Hi @SoaringFlame! Breeds are created by our art team, not our software engineers. Engineering's time commitment to new breeds is mostly on launch day to flip all the necessary switches, make sure everything works, and support the site during the initial influx of excited players post-maintenance.

In other words, while engineering works on new features, necessary backend updates, and bugs, our art and content team develops new dragon breeds and content keep the front end of the site and game interesting for our players!

Hi @TryMe4, you are correct! We noted this fact in our post, and again in this thread. The Cirrus dragon is a dragon, 100%. What they have are ties to and been influenced by the upcoming girin familiar.

There's more information to come, on the fundraiser (soon, everyone sit tight for that!) and on Cirrus lore (on release day).

@HTML, @Ius, honestly, I was juggling several things at once and could have been clearer too. When talking about what influenced our development process, part of that was learning that while the qilin may sometimes be depicted with draconic features, the qilin is not a dragon.

I'm going to be 100% honest I really don't know how to feel about this. On one hand, it could be interesting, but, uh, this is also a game about dragons.

@Ius, Cirrus are dragons! But they have ties to the girin familiar that we'll cover more at release. From today's update:
Quote:
Given that familiars exist on such a broad spectrum in Sornieth and are often their own individual beings who have chosen to bond with a dragon, this gives us the chance to draw a clearer line between the girin and Cirrus dragons while still celebrating the rich art history, myths, and folklore that have inspired so many. In addition to lore for the new breed, the Cirrus' breed article will include more details on Sornieth’s girin, purpose, and the ways they influenced and allied with the latest Ancient dragon breed.

This means that the Wind Ancient will still be a dragon of Sornieth with ties and allyship to girin, without being a girin itself. This way, we don’t risk conflating a dragon with the original source mythology of the qilin as we wrongfully believed would be okay during our earlier research and review.

Qilin, girin, kirin, etc are referred to as mythological beasts, but they are dragons, just not usually acknowledged by Western whitewashing.

I need to step in here with a clarification, for everyone.

As we learned during this process, the qilin and the dragon are two separate and distinct mythical beasts. It can seem confusing if you're viewing artwork where the qilin has draconic features (like in Manchurian-era art of qilin), and it's something that definitely tripped us up, too, but they are in fact separate mythical beasts.
